The Goldman Building was built in the 1880s and went through many changes including a hotel, department store, and furniture store. Renaissance Lofts

The Renaissance Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Three historic structures morphed into one building over the years. Office, retail, and banking uses gave way to 24 lofts on the upper floors in 2001. Units range from one to three-bedrooms, with large one-of-a-kind floor plans. Features include huge windows, high ceilings, and exposed building elements including brick columns and beams. Sala Flats

Built in 1903 and known throughout the first half of the 1900s as one of the finest apartment buildings in Rock Island, Sala Flats were home to many of the city’s most prominent business owners. Thirty-three apartments were renovated in 2005. Original woodwork, fireplaces, and bowed windows updated with contemporary lighting, appliances, and conveniences have been combined to create living spaces that offer unique living. Additional loft aparments are available downtown. These property owners received assistance from the Downtown Upper Story Housing Loan Program:

  • Norman Luxury Apartments 1809-1811 Second Avenue.
