Development Association of Rock Island

DARI is a membership organization that enables businesses to participate in the process of re-energizing Rock Island.

Membership in DARI has increased from 14 (1989) to more than 70 (2005). Currently, membership investments range from $1,200 to $6,000. DARI membership has grown mostly because once companies become members they tend to stay members.

Three other characteristics separate DARI from other organizations:

Entrepreneurial - DARI leverages your investment to better the community while building a web of partnerships to solve complicated problems.
Collaborative - In Rock Island the public and private sectors work closely together and Renaissance Rock Island is a large part of that healthy relationship.
Efficient - We value your money and your time. We rotate our crisp meetings to places of interest so that you can learn about the community while you get updated about projects and make decisions regarding the organization.

Live where you work

DARI member firms can participate in Rock Island's Employer Assisted Homebuyer Program (EAP). Through this program your employees receive down payment and closing cost assistance when they buy a home. Your employees can buy a home in Rock Island with as little as $500 in out-of-pocket expense!

We know that finding and keeping excellent employees is difficult at times but this program provides you with a great tool to build employee loyalty. On the purchase of a $100,000 home your employee and his or her family will receive $6,500 in benefits at closing at no cost to you.

How is this possible?

DARI membership investments that support housing programs are tallied and GROWTH applies for State Affordable Housing Tax Credits. For every $1 in DARI support we reap 50 cents to help fund the EAP program. Call it leverage, call it teamwork, call it meat loaf - just call it a great return on your investment.

Now you also have the option to further sweeten the pot for your employees. For each additional dollar you pledge directly to the employee, we can match that dollar up to an additional $5,000 per employee.

Employees making up to 120% of the area median income are eligible to participate in the program ($67,440 for a family of four). Income restrictions apply.
